OFFICIAL EVENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By purchasing a ticket, entering the venue or attending Red Star Festival, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to comply with the following terms and conditions. These rules are intended to promote a safe, enjoyable and well-managed experience for all attendees.

1. TICKETS AND GENERAL ADMISSION

1.1. A valid ticket is required for entry to Red Star Festival.

1.2. Tickets must be purchased through the official ticketing platform or an authorised ticket seller.

1.3. Each ticket grants admission only to the event and ticket category specified on the ticket.

1.4. Tickets must be presented in the required format, whether digitally or physically, and may be scanned or verified at the entrance.

1.5. Each ticket may be used for entry only once. Duplicate, copied, fraudulent, altered or previously redeemed tickets will not be accepted.

1.6. The organiser reserves the right to refuse entry where a ticket cannot be verified or where reasonable grounds exist to suspect fraud or misuse.

1.7. Attendees must retain their tickets and proof of purchase until they have entered the venue.

1.8. Entry is subject to venue capacity, security procedures, applicable laws and the instructions of authorised event personnel.

1.9. Purchasing a ticket does not guarantee access to every individual activity, performance area or restricted section of the venue.

1.10. Tickets may not be resold for commercial gain, used in unauthorised promotions or transferred in breach of the ticket seller's conditions.

2. AGE RESTRICTIONS AND FAMILY ADMISSION

2.1. Red Star Festival is intended to provide a welcoming environment for families and attendees of different ages in designated general admission areas.

2.2. Children attending the event must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible parent or legal guardian. Parents and guardians remain responsible for the care, conduct and whereabouts of children in their care.

2.3. Children must not be left unattended anywhere on the premises.

2.4. The organiser may establish designated family areas, entertainment areas and restricted areas. Access to each area is subject to the applicable signage, safety requirements and entry conditions.

2.5. The beer tents and designated alcohol-service or alcohol-restricted areas are strictly for persons aged 18 and older. No person under the age of 18 may enter these designated areas, even when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

2.6. Proof of age may be requested at the entrance, at beer tents and at any point where access to an age-restricted area is controlled. Acceptable identification will be determined by applicable law and the event's verification procedures.

2.7. Anyone unable to provide satisfactory proof of age when requested may be refused access to the restricted area.

2.8. No alcohol may be purchased, supplied or consumed by anyone under the age of 18.

2.9. Adults may not purchase alcohol on behalf of, supply alcohol to or encourage the consumption of alcohol by a minor.

2.10. Anyone who attempts to enter a restricted area using false identification, misleading information or another person's ticket may be refused entry or removed from the event.

2.11. The organiser reserves the right to introduce additional age restrictions where required by licensing conditions, applicable law or safety requirements.

3. ALCOHOL AND BEER-TENT RULES

3.1. Alcohol may only be sold or served by authorised vendors operating in accordance with the applicable liquor licence and legal requirements.

3.2. Alcohol may only be purchased and consumed in designated areas and during authorised service hours.

3.3. Attendees may not bring their own alcoholic beverages onto the premises.

3.4. The organiser may restrict or prohibit outside beverages, including soft drinks and other drinks, subject to applicable law and any clearly communicated entry arrangements.

3.5. Alcohol may not be taken into prohibited areas, family zones or other areas where alcohol consumption is not permitted.

3.6. Security staff and authorised alcohol-service personnel may refuse service to anyone who appears intoxicated or whose conduct creates a safety risk.

3.7. Aggressive, disorderly, threatening or disruptive behaviour associated with alcohol consumption will not be tolerated.

3.8. No person may supply alcohol to a minor or assist a minor in obtaining alcohol.

3.9. Attendees must comply with all instructions relating to alcohol service, restricted-area boundaries, capacity limits and responsible consumption.

3.10. The organiser may stop alcohol service, close a beer tent or restrict access to an area when necessary for safety, legal compliance or the proper management of the event.

4. SECURITY, SEARCHES AND ACCESS CONTROL

4.1. All attendees must comply with reasonable security screening and access-control procedures at entry points and within the venue.

4.2. Where permitted by law and applicable entry conditions, security personnel may inspect bags and belongings for prohibited items.

4.3. Attendees who refuse a lawful and properly communicated security procedure may be refused entry or required to leave.

4.4. The organiser may refuse admission to, or remove, any person whose behaviour poses a risk to themselves, other attendees, staff, performers or property.

4.5. Attendees must follow the reasonable instructions of security personnel, event management, emergency responders and authorised venue staff.

4.6. Unauthorised access to stages, backstage areas, technical equipment areas, staff-only spaces, storage facilities and other restricted sections is prohibited.

4.7. Climbing barriers, fencing, structures, lighting rigs, stages or other event infrastructure is prohibited.

4.8. Deliberately obstructing emergency exits, access routes, walkways, medical facilities or security operations is prohibited.

4.9. Anyone found attempting to bypass security controls or enter a restricted area unlawfully may be removed from the venue.

5. PROHIBITED ITEMS AND CONDUCT

5.1. The following items are prohibited, subject to applicable law and any specific written authorisation issued by the organiser:

- Illegal drugs and prohibited substances.

- Weapons and dangerous objects.

- Fireworks, explosives, flares and unauthorised pyrotechnics.

- Glass containers and other items identified as prohibited by event security.

- Alcohol brought in from outside the venue.

- Items intended to cause injury, intimidation or damage.

- Unauthorised sound equipment, professional recording equipment or commercial promotional materials.

- Any item that security reasonably considers dangerous or incompatible with the event's safety arrangements.

5.2. The following conduct is prohibited:

- Fighting, assault, threats, harassment or intimidation.

- Discriminatory abuse or hate speech.

- Damage to venue property, event equipment or another person's belongings.

- Theft, fraud or deliberate misuse of tickets.

- Unauthorised selling, trading, advertising or solicitation.

- Interference with performers, staff, vendors or event operations.

- Unauthorised entry into restricted areas.

- Behaviour that materially disrupts performances or compromises the safety of others.

5.3. The organiser may confiscate prohibited items where legally authorised, deny entry or remove an attendee in accordance with applicable law and event procedures.

5.4. Items surrendered or refused at entry may not be stored by the organiser. Attendees should not bring prohibited items to the event.

6. LIVE MUSIC, DJs AND ENTERTAINMENT

6.1. Red Star Festival will feature live musical performances, DJs and other advertised entertainment.

6.2. Published performance times are indicative and may change due to operational requirements, technical issues, weather, performer availability or circumstances beyond the organiser's reasonable control.

6.3. The organiser will make reasonable efforts to deliver the advertised entertainment programme but cannot guarantee the exact performance order, duration or appearance of every individual performer.

6.4. Attendees must respect performers, other guests and event staff.

6.5. Throwing objects, climbing onto the stage, interfering with sound or lighting equipment, or entering backstage areas without authorisation is prohibited.

6.6. Attendees acknowledge that live music may involve loud sound levels, flashing lights, special lighting effects and crowded areas.

6.7. Parents and guardians should assess whether the event environment is appropriate for the children in their care and take reasonable precautions where necessary.

7. CHILD SAFETY AND SUPERVISION

7.1. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children attending the festival.

7.2. Children must remain under appropriate supervision and must not enter restricted areas, operational zones, stages or alcohol-service areas.

7.3. Children must not be left with event personnel, vendors, performers or other attendees unless an authorised arrangement has been expressly established.

7.4. The organiser may assist with reasonable lost-child procedures and may contact security, medical personnel or the appropriate authorities when necessary.

7.5. Attendees who become aware of a lost child, a child in distress or a child who appears to be at risk should immediately notify event security or an authorised staff member.

7.6. The organiser does not operate a childcare service unless this has been expressly advertised and confirmed.

8. HEALTH, MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND EMERGENCIES

8.1. Attendees must take reasonable care of their own safety and the safety of those around them.

8.2. Anyone requiring medical assistance should notify event staff, security personnel or designated medical responders.

8.3. Attendees must not obstruct ambulances, emergency personnel, medical stations or emergency access routes.

8.4. The organiser may restrict access to an area, pause entertainment or evacuate part or all of the venue where reasonably necessary to address an emergency or serious safety concern.

8.5. Attendees must follow emergency announcements, evacuation instructions and directions from authorised personnel.

8.6. Individuals with relevant accessibility, mobility or medical requirements are encouraged to make suitable arrangements before attending.

8.7. Attendees are responsible for bringing any personal medication or medical equipment they reasonably require, subject to applicable safety restrictions.

8.8. Nothing in these terms excludes any duty or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. WEATHER AND OUTDOOR CONDITIONS

9.1. Attendees acknowledge that the event may be affected by weather and other outdoor conditions.

9.2. The organiser may delay, pause, relocate or suspend performances or activities where weather conditions or other circumstances create a safety concern.

9.3. Attendees should dress appropriately for the conditions and follow any weather-related safety announcements.

9.4. Where a performance or activity is interrupted, the organiser will assess the circumstances and determine the appropriate operational response, subject to applicable law and the ticketing terms.

9.5. The organiser cannot guarantee that every outdoor activity or performance will proceed exactly as scheduled.

10. TICKET REFUNDS, CANCELLATIONS AND CHANGES

10.1. All ticket purchases are subject to the ticketing platform's applicable terms and the rights afforded to consumers under South African law.

10.2. Attendees should check the event date, venue, ticket category, age restrictions and any stated conditions before completing a purchase.

10.3. A change of personal plans, late arrival, failure to attend or decision not to participate does not automatically entitle a ticket holder to a refund, subject to any applicable statutory rights.

10.4. If the event is cancelled, postponed, materially changed or cannot proceed as advertised, the organiser will communicate the applicable arrangements as reasonably practicable.

10.5. Refunds, credits, replacement tickets or alternative arrangements will be determined in accordance with the circumstances, the ticket seller's applicable policy and the law.

10.6. The organiser may make reasonable changes to the event programme, performance schedule, layout or facilities where required by operational, safety or other legitimate circumstances.

10.7. Nothing in these terms is intended to remove a consumer's rights under the Consumer Protection Act or any other applicable legislation.

11. ENTRY, RE-ENTRY AND REMOVAL

11.1. Entry is subject to the venue's operating procedures, security requirements and capacity restrictions.

11.2. Re-entry is permitted only if expressly allowed by the organiser and the applicable ticketing arrangements.

11.3. Attendees who leave the venue must not assume that they will be permitted to return using the same ticket.

11.4. A person may be refused entry or removed for serious misconduct, violation of these terms, unlawful behaviour or a legitimate safety or security concern.

11.5. Where removal is necessary, the organiser will act subject to applicable law and any relevant consumer rights.

11.6. Refund eligibility following refusal of entry or removal will depend on the circumstances and applicable law. No term in this section overrides a statutory entitlement.

12. FOOD, BEVERAGES AND VENDORS

12.1. Food and beverages may be available from authorised event vendors, subject to stock availability and operating hours.

12.2. Vendors operate subject to their applicable permissions, food-safety obligations and event rules.

12.3. Prices, menus and product availability may vary between vendors.

12.4. Attendees must follow any clearly communicated restrictions on bringing food or beverages into the venue.

12.5. Allergies and dietary requirements should be discussed directly with the relevant vendor. The organiser cannot guarantee that every vendor will offer suitable options or that all cross-contact risks can be eliminated.

12.6. Alcohol may only be purchased and consumed in accordance with the event's age restrictions and applicable liquor laws.

13. PERSONAL PROPERTY AND LOST ITEMS

13.1. Attendees are responsible for safeguarding their personal belongings.

13.2. The organiser encourages attendees to keep valuables secure and avoid bringing unnecessary expensive items.

13.3. Lost property should be reported to an authorised staff member or the designated event information point.

13.4. The organiser may establish a lost-property procedure but does not guarantee the recovery or return of lost items.

13.5. Any handling, storage or return of recovered property will be subject to reasonable procedures and applicable law.

13.6. Nothing in this section excludes liability where exclusion is prohibited by law.

14. PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO AND PUBLICITY

14.1. Photography and audiovisual recording may take place at the event for operational, security, news, promotional or marketing purposes.

14.2. By attending, guests acknowledge that they may incidentally appear in general crowd footage, photographs or recordings.

14.3. Any collection, use, storage or publication of identifiable personal information or images will be handled subject to applicable privacy and data-protection laws, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), where applicable.

14.4. The organiser will not rely on these terms as blanket consent for uses of a person's image that legally require separate consent or another lawful basis.

14.5. Attendees must respect the privacy of other guests and must not engage in harassment, intrusive filming or unauthorised commercial recording.

14.6. Professional recording, broadcasting, commercial photography and the use of drones require prior written authorisation and compliance with applicable law.

15. ACCESSIBILITY AND REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION

15.1. The organiser aims to make the event accessible where reasonably practicable, subject to the venue's physical layout, safety requirements and available facilities.

15.2. Attendees who require particular access arrangements should contact the organiser before the event where possible.

15.3. Attendees must not obstruct designated accessible routes or facilities.

15.4. Any assistance arrangements will be subject to reasonable operational requirements and applicable law.

16. PARKING, TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT

16.1. Parking is subject to availability and any designated parking arrangements communicated by the organiser.

16.2. Attendees must obey traffic directions, parking signage and instructions from authorised traffic or security personnel.

16.3. Vehicles may only be parked in authorised areas.

16.4. The organiser does not guarantee the availability of parking or third-party transport services.

16.5. Attendees are encouraged to arrange safe transport home in advance and must not drive while impaired by alcohol or any other substance.

17. DAMAGE, MISCONDUCT AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

17.1. Attendees must treat the venue, equipment, performers, vendors, staff and other guests with respect.

17.2. Any person who unlawfully damages property may be held responsible to the extent permitted by law.

17.3. Attendees are responsible for their own conduct and for complying with applicable laws and reasonable event rules.

17.4. The organiser may take reasonable measures to protect the safety, property and legitimate interests of the event and its attendees.

17.5. Nothing in this section creates an obligation on the organiser to compensate for loss or damage where such compensation is not legally required, nor does it exclude liability where exclusion is prohibited.

18. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

18.1. The organiser will take reasonable steps to plan and operate the event safely and in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

18.2. To the extent permitted by law, the organiser is not responsible for loss, damage, delay or disruption caused by circumstances genuinely beyond its reasonable control.

18.3. The organiser is not responsible for the independent acts or omissions of third-party vendors, performers, contractors or other attendees except to the extent that applicable law imposes responsibility on the organiser.

18.4. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for gross negligence, fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful.

18.5. These terms do not waive or restrict any consumer protection, contractual or other statutory rights that cannot lawfully be waived or restricted.

19. EVENT MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONAL CHANGES

19.1. The organiser may implement reasonable changes to venue layout, entry procedures, security arrangements, facilities, performance times and operational procedures.

19.2. Changes may be necessary to comply with instructions from public authorities, licensing conditions, emergency services, venue requirements or other applicable legal obligations.

19.3. Attendees must comply with reasonable announcements and instructions issued by authorised event management.

19.4. The organiser will endeavour to communicate material changes through the official event or ticketing channels where reasonably practicable.

20. COMPLAINTS AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT

20.1. Questions concerning tickets, access arrangements or event operations should be directed to the official event contact or ticketing provider.

20.2. Complaints should include sufficient information to identify the issue, relevant ticket details and the date and time of the incident, where available.

20.3. The organiser will make reasonable efforts to review and respond to complaints through the appropriate channels.

20.4. Nothing in this section prevents an attendee from exercising any legal right or seeking assistance from a relevant authority.

21. PRIVACY AND PERSONAL INFORMATION

21.1. Personal information collected during ticket purchases or event administration will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection laws.

21.2. Ticketing providers may process personal information under their own privacy policies.

21.3. Attendees should review the applicable ticketing provider's privacy notice before purchasing tickets.

21.4. Personal information will only be processed on an appropriate lawful basis and for legitimate purposes, such as ticket administration, event communications, security, legal compliance and customer support.

22. APPLICABLE LAW AND GENERAL PROVISIONS

22.1. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

22.2. If any provision is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent legally permitted.

22.3. These terms must be interpreted consistently with applicable legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 and relevant liquor-control legislation.

22.4. No provision in these terms is intended to override mandatory legal requirements, licensing conditions or lawful instructions issued by competent authorities.

22.5. The organiser reserves the right to enforce these terms fairly and consistently, subject to applicable law.

23. FINAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

By purchasing a ticket or attending Red Star Festival, attendees acknowledge that they are expected to comply with the event's published rules, security procedures, age restrictions and reasonable instructions from authorised personnel.

PLEASE NOTE: Red Star Festival is a family-friendly event in its designated general admission areas. The beer tents and designated alcohol-service areas are strictly restricted to persons aged 18 and older. No exceptions will be made to this event age restriction.
